Lowell School Newsletter
The Lowell School Recycling King made a surprise visit Friday morning.
He wants to remind people to keep the Recycling Pledge
Pledge To Be A Recycler!
•      I will recycle more at home and at school.
•      I will be a good role model in my neighborhood by remembering the 3 Rs.
•      I will remember what materials I can and cannot recycle at home and at school.
•      I will tell friends and family that recycling is important and easy to do.

Lowell School’s Memorial Day Assembly
The Memorial Day Assembly began with grade five students; Milena Jabaghyan representing Ms. Levine’s room, Elvis Diliberto representing Ms.Sudbay’s room, and Joshua Moran representing Ms. Park’s class escorting our honored Veterans into the gym. The students and teachers were standing in perfect silence as the Veterans entered the gym. We remained standing as Caleb Hardy from Ms. Garabedian’s class lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

We then heard the Star Spangled Banner sung by the Lowell School Chorus directed by Mr. Spano. Next, Sarah Marzugi and Hamdan Rifiq recited the poem Memorial Day. Followed by Kashif Rahman also from Ms. Garabedian’s class read his Memorial Day essay.

Mr. MacLellan’s class then stood up and sang This Land is Our Land, This Land is Your Land to our Veterans. The students were accompanied by Mr. MacLellan on the guitar. The Veterans were very moved by the students and began taking pictures of them.

Then four students presented their personal essays from Mrs. Moriarty’s class; Martin Neal, Angeliki Karalik, Lucas Pelegrin, and Ivy Morris. The program concluded with Taps playing as the Veterans left the hall as quietly as they came in.

Everyone did a wonderful job presenting and preparing for the assembly.  I want to thank everyone who helped make our assembly a success.

We are pleased to announce that we have acquired SplashMath for use in grades K-2 in all of our elementary schools! TenMarks is an online math program that provides students with an opportunity to practice the math concepts and skills that they learn about in class.

On SplashMath, your child can work independently on grade level math concepts at any time within a
structured, flexible, and supportive platform. It works well
on laptops, phones, or iPads!

Teachers will be sending home letters with your child's account information. A letter is attached that will tell you how to download the Splash Math App! More information about optional summer math practice will be sent out as we get closer to the end of the school year.

Feel free to contact Elizabeth Kaplan, Elementary Math/Science Coordinator with any questions.  elizabeth.kaplan@watertown.k12.ma.us

Crayola ColorCycle

Crayola and schools across North America are banding together to help Kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. That’s why Crayola launched ColorCycle. Through this initiative, students in K-12 schools across the continental United States and parts of Canada can collect and repurpose used Crayola markers.
Crayola ColorCycle will accept all brands of plastic markers, not just Crayola markers.  That includes dry erase markers and highlighters! ColorCycle will eliminate placing hundreds of tons of markers into landfills.

Parents, please don’t send spray bottles to school. They are great for soccer and softball, but not in the cafeteria!
